Great fund-raiser, no overhead; all volunteer workforce to haul a ba-zillion boxes of books; all books freely donated to the cause, which is the San Carlos humane society, SBPA.
Stan and I joined a bunch of other volunteers, all owners of worthy trash haulers like our SolVan, loaded our vehicles to the gunwales, caravanned through town and then unloaded under the tree on the terrace of one of the local galleries, Sagitario. We spent the balance of the day sorting thousands of books into alphabetical order and yakking with book browsers.
This being Mexico, the way to be legal is not to sell the books, but to collect donations only. The donation can was strategically placed so that nobody could see what was dropping in. People were very generous, we amassed more than $300 US in five hours, plus scored four more boxes of books. It helped to have the Spay/Neuter Clinic director (Sandy, in maroon) working the crowd, answering questions, recruiting, and selling the program.
And in other neighborhood news: Our local virgin received a new coat of paint.....
....Lola and crew joined us for yet another SolCasa happy hour.
.....and here's a picture of a SolBaño visitor, posted especially for Linda....
How much more vulnerable can one be than hopping out of the shower, no glasses, no clothes? I grabbed
my towel, and there, underneath........big scream!
This is not my critter's picture. This pic is courtesy of What's that Bug, because Stan came running and stomped mine into a not-so-photogenic mass. It was a purely reflex reaction - a woman's scream mobilizes man like a baby's cry mobilizes moms. No thought involved: stomp, smush.
