Boat Parade and Kitties' Gift

On Christmas Eve, John and Linda broke early from their boat yard duties and joined us for Stan's internationally famous Jomama's noodles. After stuffing ourselves on a mess of noodles, zuccini and guacamole, we bundled up, jumped in the SolVan and drove down to the marina. Decorated boats were assembling for the parade of lights.

The toasty van protected us from a vicious wind while we supervised thirteen boats as they formed up in the bay. From the bay, they were to motor along the city front, then back to the bay. Once they seemed organized enough to start marching, the SolVan hopped over the hump to the outside of the entrance so we could catch the show as they exited the bay.

We had lots of time to snap pictures - a fishing line was stretch across the parade route. The procession took their sweet time, tippy-toeing past the floats in the dark. Unfortunately, the photographers weren't very well equipped for the night shots.

The next morning, bright and early, the boys woke us up wanting to open their Christmas gift. After they saw what it was, they insisted we install it, immediately. We did, and ever since they've been glued to their new entertainment center.

In two days they've already had visits from Broad-billed and White-eared hummingbirds, both brightly dressed for the season in irridescent greens and blues.
