While Stan's off on a boondoggle, Gale and MJ are still in the lap of luxury in Paradise Village, enjoying a jungle waterfall, a regatta and cruiser reunions.
The Hike.
Eighteen water crossings, splashing across babbling brooks at ground level or easing across
jello-jiggly
suspension bridges - a group of fifteen cruisers-turned-trekkers wound their way upstream,
racing to beat a crowd
of caballeros to a waterfall. Horseback tourists
arrived at the pool shortly after we did, but we had already staked our claim to the prime
real estate and had a bird's eye view of the poolside frivolity.
The Banderas Bay Regatta.
Three days of cruisers' races brought lots of boats back to the bay. The racing was low-key,
it's tough to get too serious when the racers come equipped with barbeques, anchors, biminis
and pets. Even the committee boat crew included a kitty.
The Reunion.
Back in October when southbound cruisers were gathering at the public dock in San Diego, we
met a whole bunch of Canadians and subsequently buddy-boated with a group of them down the outside.
Most of them left us in their wakes and explored much farther south than we did this winter, and
some have even jumped off for the Marquesas. A few, however, have returned to Banderas Bay and,
like SolMate, will be heading up into the Sea.
Three of the original boats we crossed the Mexican border with, Endeavour, Fortuitous, and Homer's
Odyssey, met once again to share stories from our winter cruising and to make plans for the
summer. Our paths will cross, again, at Loreto Fest.
