     Linda and Karen

     Maggie and Linda

Karen, Barb, Claire, Patty and Ellen keeping to
the shade

As we all got caught up in our lives, we sailors were losing track of each other. Karen decided that shouldn't be, and organized a YaYa Sisterhood gathering at her house. This was the first time I'd seen Linda and Patty for a couple of years, and the rest of 'em since Superbowl.

Held on the Vernal Equinox, the fun for the day was planting Spring flowers, devouring a Mediterranean potluck, and playing with the animals. Maggie, the Boxer, was still full of life even though she had spent most of the day at the warehouse with Jim. Wingnut, the Desert Tortoise, was also full of life, in his own way....

Que Buena TV

Filming the TV show in the marina.

The film crew and cast of the Spanish language music video TV show, Que Buena TV, filmed in the marina. Stan caught them at low tide on the walkway just above the dock. Compared to the huge production teams of most of the filming we see around here, this was pretty low key.

They're Coming to Take Me Away, Hah Hah, Ho Ho, Hee Hee

Joe jockeying a derelict away from I Dock

The marina is full of unloved boats. Our dock alone has about a 20% disuse-rate. There are at least two boats whose owners we've never seen in our three years on J Dock.

One of the derelicts behind us on I-Dock, obviously unable to move under its own power, was hauled away the other day. Joe Camello from Colonial Yachts came and picked her up. He was amazing. This guy performed the whole operation all by himself using his little skiff, untying the boat, backing her out, securing her to his skiff's shoulder and then maneuvering her out of the marina.
