San Diego to Turtle Bay with a side trip to the three little islands of San Benito (map, below) - total trip: 340 miles in five days.

Two days later we landed at Islas San Benitos and experienced the harriest anchoring, ever. The whole anchorage was a kelp field - MJ wrapped the prop three times just motoring into position to drop anchor. The engine didn't seem to like big strands of kelp wrapped around the prop. It took us three tries to get a good set, and when we raised anchor two days later, we also raised 40 pounds of kelp, we weren't so sure our anchor wasn't set in the kelp rather than the bottom.
